Chiropractic Treatment:
The doctor of chiropractic is a specialist in spinal musculoskeletal disorders. He or she is expertly trained to diagnose and treat the many musculoskeletal injuries that may occur on the job or in your daily life.
Upon injury, the individual often alters the normal position or flexibility of the spinal vertebrae. Chiropractic treatment is designed to restore normal alignment and thus minimize pain and suffering. Gentle manipulative therapy or “adjustment” is often effective in rapidly returning the injured person to a productive status. The doctor of chiropractic can also provide guidance with advice designed to reduce work-related injuries, proper lifting procedures and therapeutic stretching exercises.
Pediatric Chiropractic:
My child is not complaining of pain, why should they go to a Chiropractor? Chiropractors often get asked this exact question, however most parents can appreciate the importance of regular dental check up’s for their children’s teeth, eyes and ears. When it comes to spinal a spinal checkup, they have a blank stare left on their face. Spinal checkups could be one of the most valuable checkups your child may receive; the spine contains billions of nerve fibers that sent messages and energy from the brain to the rest of their body and vital organs. Spinal problems may occur earlier than you may think; in fact the process of birth itself causes a tremendous amount of stress on a Childs spine. Even the most natural of birth involves pulling on the tiny babies head, with twisting and turning to try to remove the baby in a timely fashion.
As the child starts to grow, you can imagine how much stress is placed on the spine as he/she learns to walk and takes the all too often fall. Once they master the art of walking, they are involved in T-ball, and onto sports activities, and school with the enormous backpacks. It’s no wonder that children develop restrictions within their spine causing there to be a lack of motion, leading to all sorts of problems. These restrictions can spark headaches, back pain and foot pain as they grow if untreated. Dr. Derleth works to correct these restrictions (also called subluxations) before the onset of symptoms and to prevent new restrictions from forming. This is accomplished with safe and effective maneuvers called chiropractic adjustments. There are extremely gentle, modified adjustment techniques to alleviate spinal problems in pediatric patients.
As a child develops physically, there are many challenges to the developing nervous system and skeletal system. Chiropractic care can keep the spinal column and other joints aligned so that further growth and use is symmetrical. This allows the infant and child to progress through normal developmental milestones. Chiropractic care for special needs children can be helpful in conjunction with their other therapies to help achieve movement or balance that they may be lacking.
Pregnancy Chiropractic:
Due to the increased weight gain and the ligament laxity, the spinal column of a woman during the pregnancy undergoes major stressors. Chiropractic care can help the woman's body to accommodate to those changes such that the pregnancy is relatively comfortable. Specific Chiropractic techniques designed for the pregnant woman are safe to the Mom and Baby.
Active Release Technique:
ART is a soft tissue technique designed to detect and correct deep tissue adhesions and restriction which may be influencing the body's ability to move or heal. It is performed by trained individuals who are aware of the various physiological responses that need to be facilitated in individual cases. It is a helpful supportive technique for the Chiropractic adjustment.
